Baseball life still continues. Black and yellow has been switched to blue and white and the occasional pinstripes. Our first cross boarder tournament took us through Indianapolis and Ohio and it was hot! These boys had a great time in the sport they love, making it to the quarter finals in Ohio. What an awesome experience.
There will be more to come of this groups up and coming ball players…stay tuned! 🙂

I absolutely love the colours of fall! This year’s thanksgiving weekend gave a beautiful backdrop for this session of siblings and cousins – I had to take advantage.
The summer has been quite busy with baseball! The boys have moved up to Elite and it’s been quite the experience watching them play at this more intense level. They’ve had a couple tournaments so far with one more to come to end the season. They finished 3rd in their first tournament across the border which was a great experience for them!
It’s so nice to be able to be back behind the camera with my tiny little clients. Owen definitely enjoyed being wrapped and warm. What a sweet boy 🙂
Weeelll…we’re back at it! I couldn’t be happier to be able to shoot again. I’ve missed my wee little clients 🙂 I knew Luna was coming while we were in isolation and was hoping that we’d get to a point where photographers would be part of the reopening, and luckily we were! Luna arrived and I was happy to see her and her big sister who I also photographed as a newborn – her beautiful newborn session is RIGHT HERE. If ever a newborn loved to be swaddled tight, this was it. The minute I tried to unwrap her, Miss Luna let me know she was not having it, so I just went with the flow 🙂
There’s something so special about rainbow babies…
and yes…Daddy is STILL a Bronco’s fan 🙂
There has been so much happening in the world since spring break. The arrival of the corona virus(Covid 19) has definitely changed the world we used to know. We have celebrated a few “covid style” birthdays and anniversaries. Here in Ontario, our baseball season is still essentially cancelled – who knew I’d miss the heat and red dust of the diamond! Online learning for the kids, continuing to work outside of the home due to working in health care, zooming with friends who I miss dearly, it is safe to say it’s been a tough go. The civil unrest we have been seeing in the U.S. and protests of support across the world since the death of George Floyd (add link) as taken things to a new level. The pandemic has hit small businesses hard. Being a maternity and newborn photographer I too have felt the hit of closing my business through all of this. But as our city and the world begin to slowly reopen, I want to ensure my clients – past and future – that I am taking steps to ensure the safety of your family during your sessions when D. P. Photography reopens.
Some things will remain the same:
*Bookings will still be done online or over the phone
*Deposits and final payments can still be made via e-transfer
*All props, gowns and fabrics will be cleaned after every session as well as the studio
*Digitals will still be provided via private online gallery
but of course there are new things we will have to get used to:
*All clients participating in a session will now have to answer pre-screening questions prior to the session
*D.P. Photography’s client contract will have updated terms
*I will wear a face covering/mask for the duration of the session
*If possible we will shoot outdoors (especially for family sessions) to maintain social distancing as best as possible
*Most importantly, if you are sick or any member of your family is feeling sick PLEASE STAY HOME. The safety and health of both your family AND my family is of utmost importance to me.
I want to now share my heart with you (if you’ve stuck with me so far 🙂 ) on world events. The death of George Floyd.
I first saw the video on Instagram and my first reaction was, oh Lord not again. But then as the video continued, I couldn’t believe what was happening. We all know the end result as Mr. Floyd cried for his mom and begged for his breath. The pain of seeing yet another black life snuffed out breaks my heart (and in no way have I forgotten the lives of Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery and the lives of others not caught on video that have been snuffed out before them). Watching protests on the news continues to leave me sad that after all these years there are still people in the world that still hold these values of inequality as normal, but I do feel a bit of hope that there are yet more that are willing to stand up and fight against it. There are more that are willing to speak up for those whose breath was taken from them. There are more that will raise their children to be accepting and to see the differences in one another and stand together and not tolerate injustices, ignorance and inequality.
2020 has been some year hasn’t it? And we’re only half way through.
I have had several inquiries for newborn sessions and I am excited to meet their little ones when they arrive. If you are interested in booking a maternity or newborn session, or both, please let me know and I will add you to the wait list. If you’re still on the fence about booking, that’s ok too. Send me a message and we can discuss your concerns and answer any questions you may have.
My goal is still – and has always been – to make my clients feel comfortable and have fun during our time together.
I look forward to meeting the new moms and new little lives of 2020. Stay strong, stay healthy and love one another.
I was so pleased when John asked if i could photograph his family in their Toronto home. Just a couple of shots of all the kids and grandkids in one spot! The absolute best! 🙂
A portrait/cakesmash session is the best way to celebrate your little one’s milestone of turning 1! Duncan was full of smiles and had a great time rolling around his cake. I couldn’t get enough of his adorable face! Happy birthday Duncan!! 🙂
Well it’s a new year, new decade first week back to work after the holiday season. I trust that everyone had an enjoyable and RESTFUL holiday time together with family and friends while eating so much turkey and cheese you lost track of what day it was at any given time! 🙂
I just want to take the moment to thank EVERY SINGLE ONE of my clients that I’ve met this year and had the opportunity to work with. Thank you for letting me into your home, trusting me with your little ones and allowing me to capture the best sides of your family. I count each session a privilege and look forward to what 2020 holds and the new people I’ll meet.
